Everyone agrees our school grounds need improvement, but funding stands in the way. School boards must prioritize legislated demands like staffing and building maintenance, while Parent Councils lack the legal structure to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars on their own. AV PLAY fills this gap.
As an independent non-profit, we hold the "legal shape" necessary to apply for provincial, federal, foundation, and corporate grants that schools and school boards cannot touch.

To unlock external capital and champion the development of high-quality, accessible communal play spaces across Alta Vista neighborhood schools.

Collaborative by Design: We work hand-in-hand with Parent Councils, local schools, and the school board. We are a funding engine; the school communities provide the voice, and the School Board retains ultimate approval and asset ownership.
Replicable and Equitable: By bringing entirely external dollars into the commuity, we free up existing School Board capital to be spent in other high-need areas across Ottawa.
Fully Independent: We are an autonomous legal entity with our own board of directors and strict financial accountability to our funders.
